Sunset Magazine Idea House
Ladera Ranch, CA
Sunset Magazines Idea House in Ladera Ranch, CA is best described as "The O.C." meets the American Arts and Crafts architectural era. Inspired by the 1908 landmark Gamble House in Pasadena, the Idea House blends history with a contemporary Southern California. "We wanted a lighter, new take on the Craftsman," said David Mulvaney, the San Juan Capistrano builder who erected the custom home in the master-planned inland community of Ladera Ranch. Old California Lantern was honored to have our Westmoreland Series selected by David to light the exterior of this beautiful home.

This beautiful home has all the makings of a traditional Craftsman: a welcoming porch, wisteria-covered arbors and shingle siding. But this Orange County Idea House adds a modern twist. In place of conventional Arts and Crafts details, the home has a bright, contemporary look and spaces designed for indoor-outdoor living. Located near San Juan Capistrano in the new village of Covenant Hills in Ladera Ranch, the house takes full advantage of its view and garden setting.
